Tobacco Road Marathon: email

Half Marathon FAQs

Here are some of the most recent FAQs we've seen over the last few days. Please read through these questions and if you have more, check out our FAQ page.

Can I transfer my number to someone else?

Yes - you can sell it or give it, we don't have a preference, but the person who receives your number must come to packet pickup.

They need to have your name (the name you registered under) and a note from you that they are allowed to take your bib. They must pick up the bib theselves so they can sign the waiver.

I can't run this year, can I defer to next year?

No. The deadline for deferrals has passed.

Since the half is full can I just register to run the full marathon and do the half instead?

No. You have to run the race for which you are registered. If you do this, you will be excluded from the result and will not get a time or medal for either race.

Aid Station Information

We have 8 amazing groups volunteering at our aid stations so please remember to thank them on race day.

A simple 'thanks' goes a long way to making sure we have plenty of hands to feed you along the course.

Drinks: Diamond Springs water & Gatorade Endurance Formula

Nutrition: Gu gel in vanilla bean, strawberry, raspberry, and watermelon flavors. GU will be at the stations for half marathon mile 8 and beyond; for the full marathon they will be at mile 6 and most stations beyond that.

To see the exact locations of each aid station, view the maps linked below.

The GNC half marathon aid stations will be at approximately miles 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, and 12.

A most awesome post-race party

It all starts before you even begin running! We are honored to have SFC Danielle Csolak with the NC Army National Guard sing our national anthem before the gun goes off.

When you cross that finish line we'll have some of our dedicated military men and women there to shake your hand.

If you run a personal best or qualify for the Boston Marathon, ring our victory bell.

Grab your medal and continue the celebrating with music, food, drink and friends.

Make your way to the sound of music and stop by the food area for Papa John's pizza, Sysco chocolate milk, Diamond Springs water, Earth Fare bananas and Sunkist oranges.

Once you get to the beer garden area you'll hear Captain and the Keels while you enjoy  a local Natty Greene's beer (if you are 21 or older, of course).

20% off Papa John's Pizza

Sunday, March 15

Start & finish at the USA Baseball Complex & Thomas Brooks Park

Run along the American Tobacco Trail in Cary, NC

Ring our Bell

Our race is famous for creating Boston Qualifiers, also knows as a BQ for all you acronym lovers!

It's worthy of bell ringing so we invite all Boston qualifiers and runners finishing with a Personal Best (PB) to ring the bell at the finish line.

Don't forget - if you qualify for Boston pick up your BQ
t-shirt at our awards table. Just one more way we can share in your amazing accomplishment!

Doing good doesn't just happen...

With the Tobacco Road Marathon, doing good is intentional. Our Board of Directors and Race Committee is made up entirely of volunteers; no one gets paid to direct the Tobacco Road Marathon... we do this because we love it.

To continue that theme, we've donated close to a half-million dollars since our first race in 2010 (that's $500,000 if you want to see all the zeros there.)

Thank you for your continued support and the support of our sponsors. Together we are making a difference in the lives of so many.
